Report: Spurs set to be beaten to £7.2m deal for 24-year-old left-back

Nice are reportedly close to completing the signing of Olympiacos defender Kostas Tsimikas, who is said to also be interesting Tottenham.

The left-back has been a constant threat down the Olympiacos’ left flank this season, owing to his superb energy and fitness.

The Greek international, who is known for his ability to whip dangerous balls into the box, has notched up seven assists this season in all competitions (transfermarkt.com).

With Olympiacos performing admirably in Europe this campaign, coming up against Tottenham in the Champions League, as well as Arsenal and Wolves in the Europa League, it looks as if the 24-year-old has caught the attention of several Premier League sides.

Tottenham are reportedly competing with the likes of Arsenal, Leicester, and Liverpool for the full-back’s signature (SDNA).

However, Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that Nice are set to win the race for Tsimikas after having agreed a £7.2million fee plus bonuses with Olympiacos.

It is suggested that the defender will soon put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 club.

Even under the current financial circumstances, £7.2million sounds like an absolute steal for a player of Tsimikas’ quality. Having said that, there are still question marks about the 24-year-old’s defensive ability as he tends to lack composure on occasions and is sometimes too aggressive in trying to win the ball back, just like Aurier.
