Report: Spurs set to confirm full-time appointment of ex-Man City star to coaching staff

Tottenham Hotspur are set to confirm that Yaya Toure has joined the club as a coach on a full time basis, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder initially arrived in Hotspur Way back in December working alongside Tottenham academy coaches Dean Rastrick and Chris Powell to gain experience on an informal basis for two days a week as part of his plans to undertake his coaching badges after hanging up his boots from the professional game (The Athletic).

Football.London reported in December that the Ivory Coast international, who lives in the capital was open to extending his stay with the north Londoners.

The three-time Premier League winner and Champions League and two-time La Liga winner now looks set to extend his stay at the club on a permanent basis.

The 38-year-old is now close to completing his qualification and revealed in an interview with The Times last week that he is enjoying the experience of working with the Under-18 set-up.

Having lost the likes of John McDermott in recent times, it is great to see the club giving players with a wealth of footballing experience the opportunity to come in and coach the academy players in what can only massively benefit their footballing education.

It seems unlikely that Toure will make the step up to Antonio Conte’s backroom staff after the Ivorian admitted in his interview with The Times that he is yet to speak to the Spurs head coach in any great depth.
