Report: Spurs set to contest Newcastle in pursuit of Championship sensation

According to a report in The Chronicle, Tottenham have entered the race to sign Hull City midfielder Jarrod Bowen and will go head to head with Newcastle United in January for his signature.

The report claims that most of the teams in the Premier League are following Bowen closely but Spurs and the Magpies are currently said to be the front-runners for his signature.

It is revealed that while the 22-year-old’s current deal with Hull City expires at the end of the season, the Championship club have an option to activate a one-year extension to keep him at the club until 2021.

The youngster has been in brilliant form so far this season having already notched up 15 goals and 4 assists in 22 games for Hull (HITC).

The Tigers are reportedly keen to hang on to Bowen for as long as they can and it is suggested that they will make it as difficult as possible for clubs to sign him in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bowen is one player I really hope we don’t miss out on. If we allow him to go to another Premier League club, I can see him becoming another Maddison and potentially doubling or tripling his value in one season. So I hope we get the deal done in January instead of waiting and trying to get him on the cheap.
