Report: Spurs set to increase their offer for Euro 2020 star over coming days

According to a report from La Repubblica (as relayed by Football Italia), Tottenham Hotspur are set to increase their offer for Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damgaard has come on leaps and bounds since his move to Italian football in the January of last year and the youngster’s stock rose considerably thanks to his impressive displays in the European Championships this summer.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, with Sampdoria boss Roberto D’Aversa even admitting last week that the player could leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

La Repubblica now claim Tottenham are expected to step up their interest in Damsgaard by increasing their offer in the coming days.

The report suggests Spurs face competition from Aston Villa, Leeds United and Napoli for the winger but the Lilywhites are thought to be the front runners.

It is asserted that Sampdoria would be willing to let the Denmark international leave if they receive an offer of around €30m (£25.5m).

Meanwhile, CaclioMercato have also reported something quite similar regarding Damsgaard’s future, claiming the Fiorentina man could be available for between €30m-€35m (£25.5m-£29.8m).

They add that both Spurs and Villa are currently leading the race for the winger.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that we continue to be linked with wingers this summer despite the acquisition of Bryan Gil suggests that Spurs could well cash in on Bergwijn if they receive a suitable offer.

While I personally would like to see the Dutchman get an opportunity under Nuno this season, I would more than happy to lose him if it meant that we would be getting Damsgaard.
