Report: Spurs set to make approach for striker in the next few days

According to a report by Turkish publication Milliyet, Tottenham are set to make an approach for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi in the next few days.

The report claims that Spurs have been following Muriqi’s progress at Fenerbahce closely over the last few months and are finally set to make their interest concrete.

The 25-year-old centre forward has been in impressive form for Fenerbahce this campaign after moving from Caykur Rizespor in the summer.

He has been prolific in front of goal, having already managed 10 goals in 15 games this season (transfermarkt).

Apart from his goal-scoring ability, Muriqi’s hold up play and aerial prowess have also won him many admirers.

He also caught the eye with his displays for Kosovo during the Euro 2020 qualifiers, notably against England.

The forward is said to be valued at €20million (£16.7million) by Fenerbahce and would help to provide cover for star man Harry Kane.

Spurs Web Opinion

A back up for Harry Kane should be a priority in the January transfer window as we lack a more direct option to switch it up in certain games. While many people at the club clearly have high hopes for Parrott, at 17 years of age, he can’t be trusted to be Kane’s main understudy. Muriqi certainly fits the profile of what Spurs need.

The Turkish media are known for overemphasising their transfer rumours and it seems questionable that Spurs would make an approach prior to the transfer window opening next month.
