Report: Spurs set to miss out on full-back to German giants

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier has reportedly reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund and is set to sign a deal with the German giants when his contract at PSG runs out at the end of the month.

Meunier has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last couple of months with reports indicating that the right-back was flattered after being personally contacted by Jose Mourinho about the prospect of a move to North London (ESPN).

The Times reported last week that the Belgian international was one of the main right-back targets for the Lilywhites this summer.

However, RMC Sport now claim that the 28-year-old has agreed on terms with Dortmund over a summer transfer.

The report reveals that the Bundesliga club have had a long-standing interest in the defender and now look like they have sealed the deal to bring him to the Westfalenstadion.

It is claimed that Meunier has rejected a temporary contract extension offered by PSG until the end of the Champions League season, in order to link up quickly with his new team-mates at Dortmund.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I felt that Meunier could have been a solid signing for us under the current circumstances, I will not be too disappointed if we do fail to get him. While we seem to be linked with moves for the likes of Timothy Castagne and Max Aarons, I would personally prefer us to move for Nathan Ferguson as I believe the West Brom defender has all the attributes to evolve into a top defender over the coming years.
