Report: Spurs set to miss out on highly-rated right-back target

Tottenham Hotspur performed highly last season, especially in the Champions League, but the right-back position was somewhat of a headache for Pochettino.

Kieran Trippier failed to maintain the form he showed at the WorldCup for England, Serge Aurier struggled with injury and defensive performances, and Walker-Peters wasn’t trusted with many minutes for whatever reason.

As a result, Spurs have been linked with numerous new right-backs this summer, one of them being Norwich City’s Max Aarons.

Football London reported last month that Spurs would make a move for the teenager this summer, but only if Trippier was sold.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated, but it seems as if that ship may have sailed for this summer at least, as Norwich are expected to announce his new contract soon.

The Telegraph claim that Aarons has already agreed the five-year contract.

Aarons was a huge feature of Norwich’s attacking flair and defensive capabilities in their promotion-winning season last year in the Championship. He was involved in nine goals in 43 games last season (tbrfootball).
