Report: Spurs set to miss out on Premier League striker

While Tottenham have announced the signings of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Leeds United winger Jack Clarke yesterday, there are still more areas of the squad that need to be strengthened ahead of the new season.

With Fernando Llorente’s contract with the club coming to an end (Football.London), the Lilywhites may need to add a striker to their squad to serve as Harry Kane’s understudy.

One player who Spurs were linked with earlier in the window is Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez (CalcioNapoli24).

The 25-year-old, who scored 12 goals for the Magpies in the Premier League last season, is quite versatile and can play as a striker or a number 10.

However, it looks like Tottenham are now set to miss out on Perez as The Guardian report that the Spaniard is close to sealing a £30m move to Leicester City.

The report claims that Brendon Rodgers wants to strengthen his attacking options and the Newcastle forward is said to be one of the club’s primary targets.

We believe Perez would have been a terrific squad option for Spurs to have given that he can play out wide as well as centrally. The club needs to sign a young, up and coming striker who can cover for Harry Kane and learn from the England international.
