Report: Spurs set to reignite their interest in full-back

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to reignite their interest in West Bromwich Albion’s Nathan Ferguson.

Ferguson has been a long-term target for Spurs, having been linked with a move to the club as early as last summer (Daily Mail).

The teenager’s reputation has grown considerably due to his performances for the Baggies over the past two seasons.

Football Insider claim that Spurs are ready to swoop for the youngster this summer after his proposed move to Crystal Palace collapsed in January.

The report suggests that Ferguson’s relationship with the Baggies has broken down after the Championship club refused to allow him to join Palace at the start of the year.

The right-back is said to have made his mind up to leave the Hawthorns this summer even if Slaven Bilic’s side win promotion to the Premier League.

Premier League sides will reportedly have to pay a compensation of £4million to sign the 19-year-old if he is to walk away as a free agent.

If Ferguson is available for around £4m, then that could potentially be a fantastic deal for us. I personally believe he has a higher ceiling than Max Aarons as the West Brom’s star’s versatility gives him the edge over the Norwich man, although Aarons is better going forward.

Comparing the prices of both players, there is no doubt that a deal for Ferguson represents better value for money. However, signing the West Brom youngster might be a set back for Tanganga’s development, since both players have fairly similar skill sets.
