Report: Spurs set to rival Arsenal and Liverpool for 22-year-old Dutch starlet

According to The Daily Mirror (22/03/22 edition – as relayed by The Express), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a move for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo has emerged as one of the most promising talents in Dutch football over the last few years. The 22-year-old is currently enjoying his most prolific season, having scored 16 goals and registered 15 assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

The youngster has been capped on multiple occasions by the Netherlands on the back of his impressive club form.

The Mirror claim that Spurs are looking to bolster their attacking areas and have identified Gakpo as a target.

However, Antonio Conte’s men are thought to be facing competition for the PSV Eindhoven man from both Arsenal and Liverpool.

It is explained that the winger is valued at around £35m and Spurs believe that qualifying for the Champions League would make them strong contenders for the youngster’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on how Paratici operates, we know that Spurs are likely to have a long list of targets for each position. So, it is anybody’s guess who is at the top of the club’s wishlist ahead of the summer.

While Gakpo certainly looks a fantastic talent, Tottenham will likely only want to do a deal if they feel the price is right. I do not see us getting involved in a bidding war for the 22-year-old.
