Report: Spurs set to turn attentions to 28-year-old striker after suffering Milik blow

Football Insider claim that Tottenham Hotspur are set to turn their attentions to the pursuit of Benfica’s Haris Seferovic after seeing their attempts to sign Arkadiusz Milik fall through.

Milik was rumoured to be Tottenham’s main striker target before the transfer window closes (Calcio Mercato) but it looks as though a deal for the forward is proving difficult, with plenty of competition for his signature (Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli via Spazio Napoli).

The Daily Mail previously reported that the Poland international was demanding £160,000-a-week in order to sign on the dotted line.

Football Insider now reveals that the 26-year-old has made it clear that he does not want to serve as Kane’s back-up and hence turned down a move to North London.

Tottenham will reportedly now table a loan offer for Seferovic and plan to hold talks with Benfica regarding the Switzerland international in the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans will likely be underwhelmed if Seferovic the man we end up signing as Kane’s backup given that we have been linked with players like Milik, Belotti and Ings. However, it is clear that we had to prioritise funds appropriately this summer and I would rather see us spend £10m extra to land Skriniar, even if that we means we end up with a functional target man like Seferovic.
