Report: Spurs set transfer valuation for Kieran Trippier

Rewind to last summer and Kieran Trippier arguably displayed the best form of his life when he starred for England during their World Cup campaign which saw the right-back score a stunning free-kick in the semi final defeat to Croatia.

Many Spurs fans had hoped that the 28-year-old would return and bring his form back to Tottenham Hotspur, however, nothing could be further from the truth. His performances in a lilywhite shirt this season have been nothing short of sub-standard.

The player has himself admitted that his form has been below his expectations and acknowledges he needs to improve (Telegraph).

Trippier signed a new five-year contract with Spurs in July 2017, committing him to the club until 2022 (ESPN) but has recently been linked with a move away from North London.

According to the Evening Standard, Spurs value the former Burnley player at £40million and the player is seeking a long-term deal, a mix of both have put off some Premier League clubs leaving Serie A giants Napoli interested if they can negotiate on the price.

Trippier’s wife has even been rumoured to have been spotted in Naples to check out schools ahead of a proposed move (Sky Italia).

There is no doubt that Trippier is suffering from a significant lack of confidence which has seen him make crucial errors which have led to goals being conceded. He was notably at fault for both of Ajax’s goals during the first half of the Champions League semi final second leg.
