Report: Spurs should be wary of why Arsenal pulled out of Everton Soares deal

Sky Sports have reported that Tottenham head scout, Steve Hitchin, is believed to be putting Everton Soares forward as a target for the club in 2020.

This comes after the scout recently visited Brazil, with the 23-year-old also finishing as top scorer in the Copa America in the summer. So far this season, Soares has 12 goals and six assists, following on from his 16 goals last campaign (Transfer Markt).

Many will remember that Arsenal were reportedly keen on bringing Everton to North London in the summer (Sun), be ended up signing Pepe instead.

Globo Esporte have now revealed why the Gunners pulled out of a deal for Soares and it may bring back bad memories of Paulo Dybala complications for Spurs (Independent).

Gremio apparently only own 50% of Soares, with a businessman by the name of Gilmar Veloz owning 30%, Celso Rigo owning 10%, and Everton’s former club Fortaleza owning another 10%.

Arsenal reportedly asked Veloz how much he would sell his stake in the player for, with the businessman quoting a figure that forced the Gunners to look elsewhere.
