According to iNews, Newcastle United have seen off a late offensive by Tottenham and are now on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Lloyd Kelly.

Both Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo, who are now free agents, have been mooted as targets for Tottenham this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to add more strength-in-depth at the back (Football.London).
However, it now looks like the Magpies will win the race for both players, with iNews now stating that they are set to ‘wrap up’ deals for the two English defenders.
The report explains that Tottenham showed ‘late interest’ in signing Kelly but they could not do enough to change the mind of the player, who is now on his way to St James’ Park.

Spurs showed late interest in Lloyd Kelly, but to no avail
The Bournemouth star is expected to be followed through the door by Adarabioyo, with the Magpies said to have made ‘concrete progress’ in their efforts to sign the Fulham man.
iNews do not mention Tottenham with respect to the race for Adarabioyo but they say that Man Utd also showed keen interest in the 26-year-old but Eddie Howe’s men are expected to clinch the deal after being ‘more proactive’ in the negotiations.

Tottenham were never going to be able to convince either Adarabioyo or Kelly to sign as Postecoglou was not in a position to guarantee game time to either centre-back, given the options he now has at his disposal.
