Report: Spurs showing ‘concrete’ interest in £13m-rated versatile teenager

Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Strasbourg defender, Mohamed Simakan, according to the latest reports from France.

Simakan broke into the Strasbourg senior side this season and put in several impressive displays both at right-back and in central defence.

The teenager’s performances have been attracting considerable interest across Europe over the past few months, according to a report by RMC Sport.

Apart from Tottenham, the likes of Everton, Southampton, AC Milan, Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Dortmund are all reportedly following the 19-year-old’s progress closely.

The report reveals that Milan are ready to push ahead with a €15 million (£13 million) for Simakan, although Strasbourg are said to be hoping that they can increase the price by getting a bidding war going.

However, the report also claims that Spurs now hold a concrete interest in the defender and could move for the Strasbourg man given their focus on signing young players this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I haven’t seen much of Simakan, this link makes intuitive sense, like our rumoured interest in Nordi Mukiele, due to the youngster’s versatility. Buying a player who could cover at both centre-back and right-back will allow us to save some money and invest it into priority positions like a defensive midfielder or a striker.
