Report: Spurs sound out agent of Serie A defender over summer move

Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with the agents of Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij, according to Italian news outlet Il Interista.

The report claims that Spurs have sounded out the Dutch international over a possible move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next summer, while fellow Premier League side Newcastle United have also made similar advances.

De Vrij is out of contract at Inter at the end of next season with the 30-year-old running the risk of being able to walk away as a free agent.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte worked with de Vrij while in charge of Inter when he led the Milan-based side to the Serie A title during the 2020/21 campaign.

De Vrij is certainly not the only Inter defender who has been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent times with Alessandro Bastoni Football.London and Milan Skriniar Il Messaggero both having said to have been on the club’s radar.

A left-sided central defender has to be Tottenham’s main priority during the summer window and they have to look to bring in a top talent in the calibre of Bastoni or Josko Gvardiol.

Ben Davies is an able squad player, but Spurs need someone with more pace and ball-playing ability to compliment Cristian Romero on the other side of the central defensive back three.
