According to football.london’s Alasdair Gold, people ‘in and around’ Tottenham Hotspur are already impressed with a certain aspect of new signing Emerson Royal’s game.
Gold has claimed that people he has spoken to in and around Spurs have been full of compliments towards the right-back, claiming that his fitness levels are ‘incredible’ and that he is also ‘athletically superb’.
The 22-year-old was a late capture for Spurs as the deal to sign the defender from Barcelona was only announced on deadline day. Tottenham paid £25.73m for the Brazilian international who signed a contract with the club until 2026.
Arsenal were reportedly interested in the right-back but the 22-year-old preferred a move to Spurs (Sky Sports).
Emerson only made three appearances for Barcelona as he was essentially sent out on a two-year loan to Real Betis where he played 79 times in all competitions.
The right-back will have to work hard to play his way into the first-team with Japhet Tanganga putting out some good performances in the Premier League so far this season.
However, it appears Emerson is already making an impression on his peers.

Gold said: “Those I spoke to in and around Tottenham have said that the feeling they have got about him is that he is athletically superb, his fitness levels are incredible, he’s going to motor up and down that side.
“They think technically maybe he’s not entirely what you expect from a Brazilian, but certainly has the ability to get forward.”
