Report: Spurs staff left ‘shocked’ at news of employee’s departure by email

Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose their director of communications, Simon Felstein, according to The Daily Mail.

Felstein will be a familiar face to many supporters due to his presence alongside the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho during the pre and post-match press conferences.

A savvy operator, who had been at the club for nearly fifteen years, Felstein hit the headlines in December 2018 when he shut down a question from Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth about the prospect of Pochettino taking over at Manchester United when the Argentine was heavily linked with succeeding Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford (Express).

The report claims that club employees were left shocked after being informed of Felstein’s departure by email and is understood to be on a three-month gardening leave agreement ahead of seeking his next challenge.

Felstein run a tight ship with Tottenham’s communications and whoever is appointed as his replacement faces a tough task with many supporters feeling disconnected with the club over the past 18 months over many issues such as the planned furloughing of staff, season ticket prices and the botched European Super League.
