Report: Spurs star confirmed to be out of international fixture due to injury

According to Sky Sports, Eric Dier will miss England’s clash against Denmark this evening with an injury.

Contrary to reports in the media over the last few days, Gareth Southgate insisted on Tuesday that Harry Kane was not injured and that England and Spurs had no disagreement over whether the striker should play against Denmark.

While Kane has been included in the squad to take on the Danes, Sky Sports reveal that Dier and Harry Winks are both missing from the squad.

Dier is said to have picked up a hamstring injury during the Three Lions’ 2-1 win over Belgium on Sunday, where the 26-year-old played all ninety minutes.

There has been no confirmation on how severe Dier’s injury is and whether he is expected to be fit for Tottenham’s clash against West Ham on Sunday.

Winks should be fresh for the game against the Hammers, having also been left out of the squad against Belgium on Sunday after starting in the 3-0 win over Wales last week.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hopefully, Dier has withdrawn from the game as a precaution and the injury is not anything serious. As much as the 25-year-old divides opinion among the Spurs fan base, Mourinho clearly thinks he is our best central defender. Dier certainly deserves credit for the fact that we have conceded just one goal from open play in our opening four league matches. Hopefully, he is fit enough to start on Sunday.
