Report: Spurs star feels ‘fitter than he thought possible’ under Conte

The Athletic have revealed that Harry Kane is loving life under Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur and is now much happier than he was under Nuno Espirito Santo.

It is revealed that during Nuno’s four months at the helm at Spurs, he was seen more as a training ground coach than a manager.

The former Wolves boss was allegedly not involved in discussions over Kane’s future between the players camp and the Spurs hierarchy in the summer, with the meeting thought to have been led by managing director of football Fabio Paratici and chairman Daniel Levy.

The report claims Nuno was not particularly trying to sell his vision to the England captain and was more focused on implementing his ideas during training.

The Athletic state that when the striker realised his move to Manchester City was not going to go through in the summer, his plan was to assess the situation again in January.

However, it is explained that Nuno’s sacking and Conte’s arrival has shifted the dial substantially for Kane, who is said to be ‘hugely excited’ at working with the Italian.

After the two months he has had with the former Chelsea boss, the 28-year-old is allegedly feeling fitter than he thought was possible in such a short space of time.

The report adds that Kane has also been impressed by the meticulousness of Conte’s approach.

Nuno was an underwhelming appointment and the Portuguese coach’s arrival was never going to convince Kane that Spurs were capable of competing for major honours.

However, given Conte’s CV, all the Tottenham players will certainly buy into the Italian’s ideas and believe that he can help the club compete against the best sides in the Premier League.
