Report: Spurs star has not been informed about club’s transfer plans ahead of January

The Daily Mail has claimed that Dele Alli is in the dark over Tottenham Hotspur’s plans for him during the January transfer window, amid contradictory reports over his future.

It was initially reported (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold) that Spurs were ready to hold talks with Alli about a potential temporary move away from the club.

However, Sky Sports revealed last week that the North Londoners want Alli to stay and fight for his place and do not wish to sanction a loan move in January.

The Mail have now claimed that the 24-year-old was offered no explanation by Jose Mourinho on why he was left out of the matchday squad for the clash against Leicester City on Sunday.

Alli came on as a substitute during Tottenham two previous Premier League clashes against Crystal Palace and Liverpool but did not even make the bench against the Foxes despite Mourinho being able to name nine substitutes.

The report suggests that Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make another loan offer for the midfielder next month but Tottenham have not informed Alli of their plans despite the transfer window opening in less than ten days.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Alli got minutes against Palace and Liverpool could be perceived as a sign that Mourinho is prepared to offer him a route back into the first-team. However, it was surprising to see him being dropped from the matchday squad against Leicester.

If he does not feature in the Carabao Cup game against Stoke tomorrow, then surely that is a sign that he is surplus to requirements and unlikely to break into the team this season even though we are competing in multiple fronts.
