Report: Spurs star is exactly ‘what club want’ in the summer transfer window

Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen is one of the players on Inter Milan’s radar this summer as they seek to sign a replacement for Diego Godin, according to the latest reports coming out of Italy.

Vertonghen’s contract with Tottenham runs out in the summer and, apart from Inter (Standard), the centre-half has also been linked with a return to his former club, Ajax (De Telegraaf).

The defender himself revealed recently that he is yet to make up his mind on his future and will need to write down the pros and cons of each future option (De Kleedkamer via Sporza).

A report in Calciomercato (as relayed by Sport Witness) asserts that the 32-year-old will leave Spurs this summer when his deal runs out.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta is said to be looking for experienced defenders who are out of contract and it is suggested that Vertonghen is one of the options on the club’s radar.

The report asserts that the Spurs defender exactly fits the profile that the Serie A giants are looking for as they seek to replace Godin, who is expected to leave the San Siro.

Spurs Web Opinion

I actually thought Vertonghen was starting to come into a decent run of form in the last couple of games he played before the coronavirus shutdown. However, on the whole, he has been pretty poor this season and I don’t believe he has done enough to convince Jose Mourinho that he deserves a new deal.
