According to a report in Noord Hollands Dagblad (as translated by Sport Witness), Micky van de Ven is now ready to take his former club Volendam to court, with the Tottenham man believing that they owe him €450,000 (£384k).
It is revealed that the issue concerns an agreement that Van de Ven had with Volendam whereby he was owed 10 per cent of the proceeds from his sale.
While the Dutch club did pay the centre-back €350,000 after his €3.5m move to Wolfsburg in 2021, the defender did not receive any part of the fee that Volendam received after his move to Tottenham last summer.
It is explained that the Eredivisie club received 15 per cent of the fee that Tottenham paid to Wolfsburg for Van de Ven owing to a sell-on clause they had on the defender, which meant that they got €4,455,891 of the €40m Spurs spent on the player.
The report says that Van de Ven believes he is also due 10 per cent of the €4.5m fee but this is disputed by Volendam, who maintain that it was a one-time agreement which had already been honoured.

The outlet adds that the Tottenham man and his lawyers feel strengthened by a recent case between Go Ahead Eagles and FC Utrecht, in which arbitrators ruled that such an agreement should be interpreted broadly and not just once.
Van de Ven’s father is quoted as saying to the publication: “At our request, we met with FC Volendam several times to resolve the matter without the referees and publicity. The club collects a total of almost eight million euros for Micky and my son is entitled to his share.
“Although he has never received a thank you for all the money he raises, he was willing to donate €75,000 to the club. I think that says everything about him. But the time for negotiation is now over. We now demand the full price.”
Spurs Web Opinion
One would have thought that Volendam and Van de Ven would have worked out the specifics of the agreement when they sold him to Wolfsburg and attached a sell-on clause back in 2021.
Perhaps neither party expected at the time that the defender would make a £35m switch to the Premier League so soon after.
