Report: Spurs star makes Garth Crooks Team of the Week – Not Kane or Hojbjerg

Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli made Garth Crooks’ Team of the Week this week after his performance against Wolves in the Premier League.

Dele made the starting line up yet again under new boss Ryan Mason, who has seemingly welcomed the England midfielder in from the cold.

Alli was unable to get on the scoresheet but certainly deserved a goal or an assist for his work against Wolves, as he was instrumental in so many Spurs attacks.

The midfielder hit the bottom of the post when following up on a Harry Kane rebound, a chance he had created in the first place with a perfectly weighted pass.

Dele was the only Spurs man to make the Team of the Week, although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may count himself unlucky.

The defensive midfielder helped to secure a clean sheet, created the opening goal with a long-range pass and scored Tottenham’s second goal himself.

Spurs and Dele will now be hoping to kick on and win the final two games of the season.

Crooks said: ‘Sunday’s game against Wolves wasn’t a classic by any means but it was nice to see Dele Alli back in the Tottenham line-up and slowly coming back to some form.

‘The England midfielder is not firing on all cylinders just yet but with some starts under his belt as the campaign closes and a good pre-season, who knows what 2021-22 might bring?

‘With the Jose Mourinho experiment having failed, chairman Daniel Levy could see value restored to the squad members affected by their ex-manager’s reluctance to pick certain players, including Alli.’
