Report: Spurs star may have played his last game for the club

Tottenham Hotspur midfield powerhouse Mousa Dembele has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

LeSport 10 claim Monaco manager Thierry Henry wants to bring the 31-year-old midfielder to the principality in January.

Henry worked with Mousa Dembele during his stint as an assistant to Roberto Martinez with the Belgian national team and would be aware of what Dembele can bring to the side having observed him in close quarters.

The former Arsenal striker has had a terrible start to his managerial career with Monaco as they languish in the relegation zone with 18 games played.

Dembele will be out of contract with Spurs at the end of the season and it doesn’t appear as if the midfielder will be signing an extension. The Belgian is into his 7th season with the club and has been one of Tottenham’s key players during that time playing a big part in two title challenges.

However, it appears as if the 31-year-old’s body has caught up to him as he has picked up more than his fair share of injuries over the last couple of years. Dembele is currently nursing an ankle injury and is not expected to feature again for Spurs till early February.

If Monaco do offer Dembele one final bumper contract this January, it could be that we have seen Dembele play his last game in white and blue.

Spurs fans would certainly wish the midfielder powerhouse well as he has been a loyal servant for the club.
