Report: Spurs star picked up a knock this week but is expected back soon

Alasdair Gold has reported that Richarlison picked up a knock this week, which is why he has not been named in the Tottenham squad to face Shakhtar Donetsk in North London today.

The Brazilian would have been coming into the match off the back of a 45-minute pre-season hat-trick against Lion City Sailors, but will have to wait to continue that momentum.

Ange Postecoglou named Harry Kane as his starting striker for the match, despite the saga that continues to unfold around him and Bayern Munich.

Dane Scarlett was also named on the bench and could get a run out in the second half if Postecoglou chooses to ring the changes and rest Harry Kane.

Richarlison will be back very soon for Spurs

Spurs have their final pre-season friendly against Barcelona on Tuesday, and Richarlison is expected to be fit in time to return for that match – and therefore, the start of the Premier League season.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Richarlison could be one of the most important players for Spurs this season if Harry Kane leaves. It feels as though Tottenham may look to sign a young understudy to the Brazilian, then promote him to the starting spot instead of out-and-out replacing Kane – if he leaves, of course.
