Report: Spurs star robbed at gunpoint

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal was the victim of an armed robbery attempt back in his native Brazil last night.

Brazilian news outlet Jovem Pan Esportes claim the 23-year-old thankfully escaped the ordeal unhurt after shots were fired.

O Liberal have reported that Royal was approached by the assailant as he left a nightclub in Sao Paulo at 3am local time on Friday morning when the former Barcelona player posed for photos with a security guard and was approached by the robber who asked him for his belongings in which he handed over his watch and chain.

The security guard, who was was an off-duty police offer reacted to what he saw and opened fire at the thief, where around twenty shots were said to have been fired hitting the thief in the back, and they were later transported to a nearby hospital.

Royal travelled to a police station along with his father to file a police report and is said to have been very shaken up by the ordeal.

The right wing-back’s personal belongings were retrived following the gunfire exchange.
