Report: Spurs star set for pay rise and long-term contract after impressive start to season

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are set to tie down Destiny Udogie to a new long-term contract, which will see the youngster also earn a pay rise.

Destiny Udogie actually signed for Tottenham back in 2022, but spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with his former side Udinese with a view to helping his development.

The Italian full-back returned to London this summer, and has made an electric start to his life in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou. He has two assists to his name this season, and scored his first Spurs goal yesterday in the 4-1 win over Newcastle.

Aside from the red card against Chelsea last month, Udogie has rarely put a foot wrong, both in defensive situations, and in his more adventurous moments as a wing-back pushing high up the field.

Udogie to sign new Spurs deal

Udogie is regarded as one of the brightest young talents, not just at Tottenham, but in world football. It is no surprise then, that Spurs have decided to lock the 21-year-old in to a new contract.

Fabrizio Romano shared the news on Twitter, writing: “EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham reach an agreement with Destiny Udogie on new long term deal for Italian fullback. Club sources confirm deal in place and sealed — understand it’s all done.

“Spurs very happy with Udogie — salary rise agreed. Destiny scored first Tottenham goal yesterday.”

Spurs Web Opinion

A wise move indeed. Destiny Udogie has the world at his feet and is only going to keep getting better and better, and we have to ensure that he stays at Spurs as long as possible. He clearly loves it at the club, and has adapted brilliantly to the demands of the Premier League.

If he can just work on being more careful in possession and the timing of some of his tackles, he will be one of the world’s best full-backs in a couple of years. For now, though, his marauding runs forward more than make up for any minor mistakes.
