Report: Spurs star set to dig his heels in during January window over exit

Tottenham Hotspur face losing three players who have been pivotal to the club’s progression in recent seasons.

The former Ajax trio of Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are all out of contract in North London at the end of the current campaign and can begin talks with European clubs in January over a pre-contract deal.

Eriksen wasted no time just days after the Champions League defeat to Liverpool in stating his intention to leave Tottenham to seek a new challenge whilst inviting interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

Sport Witness report that the Dane will reject any attempts by Tottenham to sell him in the January transfer window unless the offer proves to be too lucrative for the playmaker to refuse.

The upcoming window represents Tottenham’s last opportunity to receive a transfer fee for the 27-year-old.

When he becomes a free agent in the summer, he will be able to receive more attractive offers from potential suitors considering the fact that they will not have to pay a fee for his services.

Eriksen has found himself in and out of Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven this season and was once again disappointing in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
