Report: Spurs star tells friends he wants to join Newcastle – Spoken to ex-teammate

Dele Alli has told friends that he wants to leave Tottenham to join Newcastle this month, according to Football Insider.

Alli has been linked with a move to the Magpies in recent weeks (The Chronicle) having slipped way down the Tottenham pecking order this season.

The 25-year-old was a regular feature in the Spurs line-up to start the season under Nuno Espirito Santo, but has been used sparingly by Antonio Conte, making just two Premier League starts since the Italian’s arrival.

With an exit looking firmly on the cards for Alli, Football Insider reports he has told sources close to him that he wants to quit Spurs for Newcastle this month in order to try and reinvigorate his career.

The report adds the midfielder has also spoken to former Spurs teammate Kieran Trippier about a move to Tyneside, with the right-back making a return to the Premier League from Atletico Madrid last month.

Alli does not appear to be in Conte’s plans much for the rest of the season and Newcastle keep lingering in the background, so Spurs should look to secure a deal here. He needs to get his career back on track and even a loan move could go some way to achieving that.
