Report: Spurs star would be ‘delighted’ to join La Liga club in January

The print edition of AS (01/12/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Bryan Gil would be happy to return to Valencia in January.

Gil only managed a total of 74 minutes across six matches in the first half of the 2022-23 campaign (Transfermarkt), despite the fact that Antonio Conte had to deal with several injuries in his forward line.

AS now explain that Valencia tried in vain to extend the winger’s stay at the club during the summer on the back of his loan spell at the club during the second half of last season.

The 21-year-old is once again thought to be on the Spanish club’s agenda, with manager Gennaro Gattuso alleged to have met with the club’s owner Peter Lim to ask for a midfielder and a winger to be brought in January.

Valencia are said to be looking at low-cost options and they have thus been backed to pursue another loan deal for Gil.

AS state that the former Sevilla man would be ‘delighted’ to return to the Mestalla after having established a good relationship with many players at the club last season.

However, it is explained that there is ‘nothing concrete’ at the moment and that Los Che would first have to strike an agreement with Spurs before beginning contact with Gil.

Spurs Web Opinion

I fully expect this move to go through in January as it would be in the interest of all parties for Gil to get regular game time, which he is not going to at Spurs. I suspect the only reason the 21-year-old was not loaned out in the summer was owing to Tottenham’s inability to bring in a late attacking replacement.
