Report: Spurs ‘still believe’ in 25-year-old despite poor form and Serie A interest

According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham will not let Emerson Royal leave on the cheap this summer as they believe the right-back has a lot to offer.

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Emerson’s three-year spell at Tottenham is expected to come to an end this summer, with the Brazilian’s agent already thought to be speaking to potential suitors (Football Insider).

Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto claimed a few days ago that Milan are keen on signing a right-back this summer and have set their sights on the Spurs star.

Tottenham’s stance on Emerson Royal revealed

Gazzetta have now also credited Milan with an interest in Emerson, explaining that the Rossoneri are eying a major summer rebuild and are fans of the Tottenham defender.

However, they suggest that the Lilywhites are not in a rush to sell the former Real Betis man and are expected to demand a high price.

The publication adds that even though Emerson has not been a regular starter for Spurs this season, they ‘still believe in his qualities’, which is why they want €30m (£25.7m) for the 25-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Tottenham want the money back for Emerson and one would expect there to be a few clubs interested in the Brazilian. However, I suspect Spurs would have to settle for around £20m for the right-back, particularly if they do not want to push the sale until quite late in the window.
