Report: Spurs still expected to make January signing barring last-minute ‘surprises’

According to the print edition of Corriere Fiorentino (as relayed by Sport Witness), Sofyan Amrabat will become a Tottenham Hotspur player barring any last-minute ‘surprises’.

The last couple of days have been quite disastrous for Tottenham, with the club seemingly set to lose out on two of the club’s transfer targets – Adama Traore and Luis Diaz.

Traore is reported to be on the verge of completing a move to Barcelona (Guardian) while Liverpool are expected to complete the signing of Diaz (The Athletic).

However, there is now finally some good news for Spurs in the transfer window, if Corriere Fiorentino‘s latest update is to be believed.

The publication reveals that Tottenham have reached an agreement with Fiorentina for the transfer of Amrabat.

The North London club are expected to sign the Moroccan on loan for a fee of €1.5m (£1.2m), with an option of making the deal permanent for an additional €15m (£12.4m) in the summer.

The report claims that both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici rate Amrabat highly and that 25-year-old is ‘more than happy’ to be joining the Lilywhites.

It is explained that Spurs are now waiting for Tanguy Ndombele to leave in order to seal the Fiorentina man’s move.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is fair to say that among the three players that Spurs were rumoured to be in for at the start of the week (Diaz, Traore and Amrabat), the Fiorentina man was probably one that excited the fan base the least.

It now looks like the Moroccan is going to be Tottenham’s first signing of the Conte era but there is no doubt that we need a lot more over the next three days to save this transfer window.
