Report: Spurs still monitoring highly-rated Dutch star – Four other clubs interested

According to a report from Fichajes.net, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Ajax youngster Ryan Gravenberch.

Gravenberch, who came through the ranks of Ajax’s esteemed youth academy, established himself as a regular in the Eredivisie giants’ starting eleven last season.

The midfielder, who is comfortable playing as a pivot in front of the back four as well as further forward, has been likened to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba for his physical and technical attributes.

Fichajes have now revealed that Spurs are monitoring the 19-year-old’s performances but it is explained that the North London club could face plenty of competition from the midfielder.

The report describes Gravenberch as ‘the pearl in everyone’s eye’, with the likes of Juventus, Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal also thought to be interested in the teenager.

However, it is revealed that Ajax have no intention of letting the midfielder leave, with Erik Teg Hag’s side thought to be valuing the youngster at around €75m (£64.3m).

Fichajes also reported earlier this month that Spurs were planning a move for the youngster next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Spurs spending upwards of £50m on an unproven gem from the Eredivisie as that would represent too much of a risk. However, I doubt if Ajax’s asking price would be anywhere as high as it is being reported.
