Report: Spurs striker close to long-term deal after initial fears player would stall on offer

Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham Hotspur looks set to become more clearer with reports suggesting that he is close to signing a new contract at the club.

The Telegraph report that there were concerns that the South Korean may be reluctant to put pen to paper on a new deal following the claims that Harry Kane is keen to leave and take up a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Fears of Son following suit have been alleviated with talks said to have progressed well over the past few weeks which have led both parties to be confident that a deal will be reached.

It is claimed that the 28-year-old is now close to pledging his long-term future to the North Londoners.

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has added that Son will receive a higher salary with talks having been conducted since December.

Son was quizzed about his contract situation in February and refused to be drawn on the speculation, insisting it would be ‘unfair’ to talk about a new contract while his focus was still on the season (Independent).
