Report: Spurs striker target ‘is expected to leave’ club in next few days

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed (as relayed by Fabrizio Romano) that Tottenham Hotspur are planning to swoop for Stuttgart striker Nicolas Gonzalez.

Gonzalez played a key role in helping Stuttgart to win promotion to the Bundesliga in 2019/20 and has followed that up with an impressive showing last campaign.

He scored 6 goals and registered 2 assists in an injury-hit season that saw him make just 15 league appearances.

Gonzalez was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during the January transfer window, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein claiming at the time that the Premier League club were in talks with Stuttgart over a deal for the striker.

If Di Marzio is to be believed, Spurs could be about to reignite their interest in the Argentine over the coming days.

Romano relayed a report from the journalist revealing that the versatile striker is expected to confirm an exit from Stuttgart in the ‘next days’, with Fiorentina and Brighton also interested in his services.

However, Tottenham are now said to have entered the race for Gonzalez, who is reportedly admired by Fabio Paratici.
