Report: Spurs striker target may be putting pressure on club to push through move

According to reports this morning, William Jose is likely to be Tottenham’s final target in the two remaining days left in the transfer window.

Tottenham have already singed Gerdson Fernandes from Benfica on an 18-month loan deal this month and announced the capture of Steven Bergwijn from PSV yesterday. In addition, Spurs also exercised the option to sign Giovani Lo Celso permanently from Real Betis.

According to a report in the Independent, Spurs will now make a renewed bid for Jose after their initial £10 million offer for the Brazilian striker was rejected by Real Sociedad.

It is asserted, however, that the striker, who missed club’s 3-1 home win over Osasuna on Wednesday night, is desperate to join Tottenham before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

The report thus claims that Sociedad might relax their £21 million asking price given the striker’s reluctance to stay with the La Liga club.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds very much like Spurs are hoping Jose can pressure Sociedad into accepting a lower transfer fee. I personally believe Jose would be a better fit for us than Piatek due to his aerial prowess and hold up play. So I believe we would have had an extremely solid transfer window if we can get this deal over the line as well.
