Report: Spurs striker target tells current club that he wants Premier League move

Fenerbahce striker, Vedat Muriqi, has reportedly told the club that he would like to continue his career in the Premier League amidst interest from Tottenham.

Spurs have been heavily linked with Muriqi over the past few weeks, with speculation regarding the striker’s future intensifying in the Turkish press following the coronavirus shutdown.

Fanatik reported at the start of this month that Tottenham were set to return for the striker’s services in the summer after failing to land him in January.

Recent reports from Turkey claimed that Spurs were prepared to offer €20 million for the 26-year-old while Fenerbahce were said to be holding out for around €25 million (Sabah via Sport Witness).

Fotomac (as relayed by Sport Witness) now reports that Tottenham are still keen on Muriqi as they view the centre-forward as ideal cover for Harry Kane.

While the Kosovo international is also said to be attracting interest from Italy, it is claimed that he has told the Fenerbahce hierarchy that the Premier League is his prefered destination.

I can definitely see this rumour having legs as Muriqi is a perfect Mourinho type signing. While he isn’t a prolific goalscorer, he is the type of player Jose loves having in his squad due to his ability to play with his back to goal and his aerial prowess. He will give us a Plan B which we’ve lacked since Llorente left last summer.
