Report: Spurs ‘studying’ player who is ‘very popular’ with club hierarchy

Foot Mercato journalist, Santi Aouna has reported that Tottenham are now studying Atletico Madrid defender, Mario Hermoso as a potential transfer target this summer.

As is no secret among Spurs fans, Aouna claimed that Tottenham will be looking to strengthen their defence in the summer transfer market.

He claimed that Hermoso’s profile is ‘very popular’ among those in charge of the North London club as they continue to monitor the 26-year-old.

The central defender played an important part in Atletico’s La Liga win last season, playing 31 games in the league, as well as six in the Champions League (TransferMarkt).

TransferMarkt claim that the Spaniard is currently worth around £31.5m and he could prove even more valuable to Spurs as he is a left-footed central defender, something the club have missed since Jan Vertonghen left on a free.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Hermoso would be a great name to get through the door but I just don’t see why any player at their peak would leave Atletico Madrid for Spurs at the moment.
