Report: Spurs talks ‘fully underway’ over Ndombele two-year loan to European giant

According to a report from L’Equipe (as relayed by transfermakt.com), Barcelona have positioned themselves to take advantage of Tanguy Ndombele’s rumoured fall out with Jose Mourinho and swoop for the Spurs midfielder.

Ndombele has not been used in either of Tottenham’s first two games back, despite five substitutions being allowed per match.

Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard reported on Friday that Mourinho and Ndombele have had a recent falling out with the 23-year-old telling the Spurs boss that he does not want to play for him again.

This was a claim that the 57-year-old Mourinho denied in his post-match press conference following Tottenham’s 2-0 win over the Hammers (Football.London).

L’Equipe now report that Barcelona, who have been long-term admirers of the former Lyon man, have rekindled their interest in the Spurs star.

It is claimed that negotiations between the Catalan giants and Tottenham regarding Ndombele’s transfer are well underway ahead of the summer transfer window.

A two-year loan deal with an option to buy, which becomes mandatory under certain circumstances, is reportedly being considered by both parties.

Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested in the France international, with Thomas Tuchel said to be in regular contact with Ndombele.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Ndombele getting too much game time before the end of the season, particularly if Jose is going to continue employing the 4-2-3-1 system. Both Dele Alli and Erik Lamela are ahead of Ndombele in the pecking order for the number 10 role, while Giovani Lo Celso, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks (potentially Gedson Fernandes too) are likely to be used ahead of him in the pivot. So, the only way I can see Ndombele coming on is if we are chasing a game. If he does not get too much game time in the final seven games of the season, I expect him to be sold in the summer.
