Report: Spurs talks with one potential sporting director are ‘progressing’

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have now opened talks with multiple candidates to fill the vacant sporting director role evacuated by Fabio Paratici.

Paratici operated as Tottenham’s managing director of football for almost two years but resigned last month after his worldwide ban was upheld.

Although Spurs have since appointed Scott Munn as chief football officer, the club are thought to be keen to fill the sporting director vacancy.

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, the North London club have now already spoken to multiple candidates as they step up their search for Paratici’s replacement.

The report reveals that the Spurs hierarchy have spoken to Brentford technical director Lee Dykes over the role after being impressed by his work with the Bees in recent years.

It is explained that Daniel Levy was particularly drawn to Dykes due to his impressive recruitment decisions at the West London club, which includes the acquisitions of Ivan Toney, Mikkel Damsgard and Bryan Mbeumo.

The publication adds that Spurs have also spoken to German sporting director Johannes Spors, with talks between the parties said to be ‘progressing’.

Football Insider are not the first outlet to report on Tottenham’s interest in Dykes and Spors, with The Daily Mail revealing on May 8 that both names were on the club’s wishlist.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham cannot afford to take too much time in hiring a sporting director as the club risk getting left behind in the race for their summer transfer targets.

Spurs also would not want a repeat of 2021 where it took them several months to find a new head coach.
