Report: Spurs target Bruno Fernandes has a new buyout clause value in his contract

The Mirror have reported that Bruno Fernandes does not look as if he will be moving to the Premier League anytime soon after signing a new contract with Sporting Lisbon this week.

While there was a belief that Sporting would cash in on their 25-year-old playmaker and captain, he has instead committed himself to a brand-new deal.

The new contract will also reportedly not add any time to his stay in Portugal, as the deal expires in 2023 as his old contract did.

However, the value of his buyout clause has apparently risen from £65m to £85m, perhaps bumping him out of Tottenham and Daniel Levy’s price range.

Spurs made a move for the playmaker in the summer transfer window, but their bid proved not to entice Sporting into a sale (Standard).

This comes as a blow to Spurs, as the Mirror also add that Mourinho had shortlisted Fernandes as a future target for the club.
