Report: Spurs target could be forced to leave current club this summer

Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo’s father had revealed that while his son wants to stay at the club, he might be forced to leave this summer with the club attempting to balance their books.

The legendary Francesco Totti recently resigned from his role as a director at the Serie A club and revealed that the Giallorossi were struggling financially and may have to sell some of their most prized assets in order to get back into the black (BBC).

Sky Italia reported a few days ago that Roma had put a staggering €70million (£63million) price on the head of Zaniolo amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The left-footer has had an impressive season after his move from Inter Milan last summer and has even been rewarded with call-ups for the Italian national team.

Now, the player’s father has suggested that the teenager might not have a choice when it comes to his future,

Speaking to Centro Suono Sport radio, the 19-year-old’s father said, “He has a four-year contract and I see no reason why he’d think of leaving.

“However, if the club has other problems, then that’s not up to him. At the moment, we don’t know who to talk to, as the new director of sport has not yet been formally appointed.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Zaniolo looks a real talent, it is unlikely that Spurs will be willing to pay the reported €70million asking price for the teenager particularly given that the club is also said to be pursuing deals for Le Celso and Ndombele. So unless Roma reduce their asking price, this deal looks unlikely.
