Report: Spurs target dreaming of Premier League transfer

If recent reports are to be believed, then Jose Mourinho will predominantly concentrate on rebuilding the Spurs backline in the summer transfer window (The Express).

The Lilywhites have had a number of defensive issues this season and are said to be in the market for a centre back, a left-back and a right back.

One of the names to be linked with a move to Spurs is RB Leipzig centre half Dayot Upamecano.

The Sun reported on Wednesday that Mourinho may have been watching young Upamecano when was in attendance at the Allianz Arena at the weekend to watch Leipzig in action at Bayern Munich ahead of their Champions League clash with Spurs next Wednesday.

The 21-year-old centre half, who has 18-months left on his contract with Leipzig, reportedly has a £50m release clause in his current deal.

Now, The Sun relay a report by German newspaper Bild that suggests that the Premier League is the French defender’s dream destination.

It is also revealed that the Frenchman has refused to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga club amidst interest from Spurs as well as their North London rivals Arsenal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Among the choices we have been linked with so far, Upamecano isn’t a bad shout at all but if he is indeed available for around £50 million, then I expect there to be considerable interest in him. What we do in the summer in terms of defensive additions will also likely depend on how Japhet Tangaga plays for the remainder of the season.
