Report: Spurs target has completed more dribbles than Son and Lucas combined this season

Despite already having several wide options in the squad, including Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, and Erik Lamela, Tottenham have been linked with plenty of wingers ahead of the summer transfer window.

There has been plenty of speculation involving Tottenham’s potential moves for Ryan Fraser (Todofichajes) and Willian (The Sun) – two experienced Premier League campaigners with proven pedigree.

However, one option that has come slightly out of left field is Jeremie Boga, with reports indicate that the former Chelsea academy graduate could cost as little as £15 million this summer (Express).

Spurs are said to be interested in the skilful Sassuolo winger who has enjoyed a terrific 2019/20 Serie A campaign (CalcioMercato).

While the Ivory Coast international may not necessarily be a name to get Spurs fans on their feet, regular watchers of Italian football will be aware of the unbelievable ability that the 23-year-old possesses.

The stats certainly reveal just how freakishly good Boga is in terms of travelling with the ball at his feet.

According to Opta (via AS), the Sassuolo star has completed a whopping 102 dribbles this season, 30 more than any other player in the division.

To put it into context, that number is higher than both Son’s (49) and Lucas’ (52) tally combined (Opta via AS). Therefore, the numbers imply that Boga would give Spurs a different kind of option that they don’t necessarily have in the wide areas.

I believe that Boga was the kind of player we were going for when we landed Bergwijn in January – a pacey and direct wide player who can beat his man in a one vs one situation. I would expect us to go for one of Fraser or Willian over Boga as the Ivorian is still very raw and there are a few question marks over his end product.
