Report: Spurs target in talks with Ligue 1 side over free transfer

Tottenham may have suffered a potential blow in their pursuit of Leicester City star Demarai Gray as The Daily Mail report that the winger has held talks with Marseille over a free transfer in the summer.

Gray, whose contract at the King Power Stadium runs out at the end of the season, has only made two appearances this season for the Foxes.

Brendan Rodgers has hinted that he does not expect the 24-year-old to be at the club beyond the end of his current deal.

Multiple reports over the past two months have claimed that the winger is on Tottenham’s radar.

It was suggested in the Transfer Window Podcast back in November that those at Leicester expected the wide man to join Spurs.

Turkish journalist, Ekrem Konur also recently claimed that the North Londoners are battling it out with clubs across Europe for the former Birmingham City man.

The Daily Mail now reveal that Gray is free to talk to clubs aboard as he only has six months left on his contract and the winger has already been in contact with Marseille.

The report claims that Benfica and Monaco are also keen on signing the rumoured Spurs target.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gray’s lack of minutes this season likely has to do with his refusal to sign a new deal at Leicester. I still believe he has the attributes to develop into a top player and I could see his value skyrocketing in a couple of seasons if he moves to France or Portugal.
