Report: Spurs target ‘increasingly likely to stay’ at Serie A club

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur target Nikola Milkenkovic is now increasingly likely to stay put at Fiorentina beyond the end of the transfer window.

It was reported last week that Spurs had turned their attention to Milenkovic after failing to reach an agreement with Bologna for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Some sources even claimed the North London club were ready to offer €70m (£59.7m) to Fiorentina for a double deal for Milenkovic and his club and international teammate, Dusan Vlahovic.

However, it has been suggested over the last couple of days that Tomiyasu remains Fabio Partici’s number one target ahead of the Serbian.

Sky Sports have now also backed up that claim, suggesting that Spurs are mulling over a deal for the Japanese defender.

The report reveals that West Ham have also pulled out of talks with Fiorentina for Milenkovic, leaving the 23-year-old frustrated.

It is asserted that he is now considering signing a new contract at the Artemio Franchi Stadium ahead of the new Serie A season.

It appears as though Tomiyasu is Paratici’s number one target and Milenkovic is a fallback option. If Spurs have not pushed ahead with a move for the Fiorentina star, that likely indicates that the club believe they will get a deal for Tomiyasu over the line.
