Report: Spurs target ‘will almost certainly’ transfer this summer after latest twist

The Daily Mail have handed Tottenham Hotspur a boost by stating that Leeds United would be forced to cash in on Crysecio Summerville after failing to win promotion to the Premier League.

Over the last few days, Spurs Web has brought to you many reports regarding how Leeds’ playoff final defeat will impact their chances of signing Joe Rodon.

However, their loss against Southampton could also impact Tottenham in another way, with Summerville mooted as a target for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The winger has been one of the best players on show in the Championship this season and it was reported by CalcioMercato (via Sport.fr) earlier this month that Daniel Farke’s men had put a price tag of €45m (£38.7m) on the player’s head to ward off interest from Spurs.

However, it was suggested by HITC on Monday that Tottenham’s chances of landing the Dutchamnm had been boosted after Leeds’ failure to win promotion.

Leeds United have to sell players this summer

The Mail have now offered more context to the situation, stating that Leeds are set to miss out on over £100m in matchday, broadcast and commercial revenue after failing to bounce straight back up to the top flight.

In addition, it is revealed that the Championship club owe £189.7m in agreed instalments of payments for player acquisitions before this year, and they would thus have to sell before they can buy this summer.

The publication says that Summerville will lead a ‘mass exodus’ from Elland Road, adding that the 22-year-old ‘will almost certainly leave’ before the start of next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham might sense an opportunity to land the Dutch winger on a cut-price deal, given Leeds’ desperation to raise funds. However, one would expect plenty of other Premier League sides to also be involved in the race for Summerville.
