Report: Spurs target will push for January move – Knows where he wants to go

According to Calciomercato, reported Tottenham Hotspur target Nahitan Nandez wants to leave Cagliari and will ask his agent to push for a move in January after failing to find an exit in the summer.

During the transfer window, Spurs were closely linked with the 25-year-old as La Nuova Sardegna reported the club’s offer of £8.5m for a season loan as well as an obligated permanent fee of £13m-£17m was accepted by Cagliari.

The reported deal was a loan with a potential obligation to buy for €25m. The loan was said to be at a price of €5-6m with the remaining €20m being paid the next summer.

The midfielder was also linked with a move to fellow Italian club Inter Milan, and the CalcioMercato report claims the Serie A club is still Nandez’s priority.

Centotrentuno claimed Cagliari eventually blocked a last-minute exit due to Nandez’s importance to the team.

Nandez was clearly desperate for a move away but it didn’t come to fruition. Tottenham were linked but it was one of many Spurs transfer targets that didn’t happen. It is yet to be seen how active Spurs will be in the January transfer window but Nandez might be an option they go back.
