Report: Spurs target’s manager speaks out on player’s future

The Times journalist, Gary Jacob claimed this morning that Tottenham hoped to complete deals for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, Fulham wide man Ryan Sessegnon, Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, and Nice defender Youcef Atal before the 5 pm deadline.

While the deals for Lo Celso and Sessegnon seem really close to being done  (The Telegraph), the latest reports are suggesting that Tottenham and Juventus have called off their negotiations for Dybala (BBC).

Now, we have received an update on the Youcef Atal transfer and it is once again disappointing news for Spurs fans.

Nice manager Patrick Vieira has now spoken regarding Atal’s future in a press conference that was held earlier today and suggested that the Algerian international will be staying put at the club.

When asked about the futures of the full-back as well as centre half, Malang Sarr, according to France Football, Vieira said, “These are players who will not leave.”

Unless Vieira is misleading the press, that pretty much rules out the signing of Atal as well. At this point, it looks as if the club will only be able to get Lo Celso and Sessegnon over the line before the deadline. While that would still be a fantastic window for the club, we at Spurs Web don’t believe that is enough to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the title.
